    • Day 1: Managua to Granada - Arrival

      After your arrival to Managua’s Augusto C. Sandino International Airport, you’ll be met by your driver and whisked away half an hour's drive to the south to the colonial city of Granada. Check into your spacious, luxuriously-appointed room at Hotel Plaza Colón for the evening and enjoy some well-deserved R&R after your travel day.

    • Day 2: Granada - Cruise the isletas; watch an active volcano light up the night

      After a delicious breakfast, take a boat ride through the Granada Isletas for a taste of the distinctive flora and fauna that exists in this unique ecosystem or 365 small islets in Lake Nicaragua. Cruise through the largest freshwater lake in the Americas, enjoy the sights and the sounds of the rainforest, and revel in spectacular views of the ever-present Mombacho Volcano looming on the shore.

      Return to your hotel in the afternoon to kick back poolside and catch some rays, or get out into the city and explore for the afternoon. Then, just before dark falls, head out to Masaya Volcano, one of the most active volcanoes in the world. Here, you’ll have the unique opportunity to see the bubbling fiery-red lava lake in the volcano’s crater.

    • Day 3: Granada - Fine coffee and zip line thrills

      This morning you’ll ride to the verdant slopes of Mombacho Volcano, one of only two volcanoes in Nicaragua whose slopes are carpeted in mystical, swirling cloud forest. At the base of the volcano, spend your morning at Hacienda El Progreso, a working coffee farm home to Café Las Flores, one of Nicaragua’s most famous coffee exports. First, explore the cultivation and processing of the coffee crops. Then, after lunch, get your heart racing and enjoy spectacular jungle and valley views as you zip line through the rainforest canopy.

    • Day 4: Granada to San Juan Del Sur - Head south for the Emerald Coast

      After a laid-back breakfast, you’re off to the enchanting Emerald Coast, where jungle meets sea. Settle into your luxury digs at Morgan's Rock Ecolodge, and acclimatize to the laid-back beachy vibe with a nap on your ocean-view deck or a dip in your private plunge pool. Dinner tonight will be unforgettable - dine by candlelight and enjoy a gourmet meal at your very own beachfront table for two.

    • Day 5: San Juan Del Sur - Catch a wave, or spend a day relaxing in the warm tropical sun

      Enjoy the day at your leisure today – take a dip in the ocean, walk the private white-sand beach of Playa Ocotal, lounge in your private plunge pool, or relax in a hammock while gentle tropical breezes rustle the palm leaves overhead.

    • Day 6: San Juan Del Sur - Set sail to secret beaches

      After a morning relaxing, take a sunset sail along the shores of the Pacific. Picture this: you’re gliding through crystal clear waters, a tropical drink in hand, to lush jungle and pristine beaches waiting to be explored. A pod of dolphins leads the way. Then, for the coup de grace, enjoy a spectacular ocean sunset on board before you arrive back to shore.

    • Day 7: San Juan del Sur to Managua - Bid farewell

      On your final morning at Morgan's Rock, enjoy breakfast and spend some time on the beach before you depart on a two and a half hour journey up to Managua for the night.

    • Day 8: Managua - Departure

      Transfer to the airport from your hotel to catch your international flight home. Buen viaje!

    Know Before You Go

    • Itinerary prices are dependent on season of departure. Christmas, New Years and Easter (Semana Santa) are peak season, and prices during these periods are significantlky higher than other times of year. High season runs from November through April, and green season from May through September.

    • Arrival: hotel check-in times are at 3:00pm, but you may arrive at any time during the day. If you arrive prior to the scheduled check-in time, we will arrange for early check-in wherever possible.

    • Departure: hotel check-out times are at 9:00am. International flights on your departure day should be arranged to depart after 1:30pm.

    • All prices in USD.

    • For vaccination recommendations, please visit the CDC website.

    • For American, Canadian, and British citizens, a valid passport with 6+ months remaining is required for entry to Nicaragua.

    • Debit cards may not work in Central America, but most establishments accept major credit cards.

    • Please ensure you have immediate access to a minimum of USD $250 as an emergency fund to be used if circumstances outside our control (e.g. a natural disaster) require changes to your planned route.

    • All visitors are required to purchase a tourist card for USD $10, payable in US currently only.

    • All departure taxes are included in the cost of airfare.

    • It is customary to tip service providers (waiters) around 10% depending on service. Tipping taxi drivers is not required.

    • Gratuities for guides and drivers are deeply appreciated, and provide an important supplement to their income. If you are pleased with the tour services you've received, a guideline for tipping in Central America is USD $8-10 per person per day for multiple-day tours, or USD $5-10 per person for day tours.

    Getting There

    From North America: several airlines offer direct and connecting flights to Nicaragua’s international airport: Augusto C. Sandino International Airport in Managua (airport code: MAN). Including connection time, flights from the USA typically range from 2.5-9 hours in duration, while most flights from Canada range from 9-15 hours in duration.

    From the UK: there are currently no direct flights to Managua from the UK, but there are several flight options connecting in the United States and/or Canada. Including connection time, flights from the UK typically range from 12-18 hours in duration.
