    • Day 1: Cayo District - Arrival

Upon your arrival to the airport, you'll be met by a driver and whisked away, down the limestone roads to inland Belize, the heart of the Mayan jungle. Check into the beautifully appointed Ka'ana Resort and settle in for a good night's rest before your adventure begins tomorrow.

    • Day 2: Cayo District - Set into the jungle on horseback to explore the temples and terraces of ancient kings at Xunantunich

After breakfast, take a quick half hour drive to Xunantunich, a spectacular Mayan ceremonial center that can only be reached by crossing the Mopan River. Your adventure begins at a local stable on a private farm where you will meet your guide, mount your horse and depart, riding along well-maintained trails that cut through jungle and traverse a large private farm along the banks of the river.

Once you reach the river, you will cross on a hand-operated ferry, and then ride your horse up to the ruins, to explore the majestic site of Xunantunich. Discover temples and plazas on foot, climb to the top of El Castillo to enjoy breathtaking 360 degree views, and learn the exciting history of this unique and beautiful place. Afterward, ride to nearby Benny’s Kitchen for a delicious array of traditional Belizean dishes before you meander back to the stables.

    • Day 3: Cayo District - Discover a temple of treasures in the Mayan ceremonial caves of Actun Tunichil Muknal

Today you’ll embark on a journey into Xibalba (pronounced shi-bal-ba), the Mayan underworld. Begin with a trek that will take you through rainforest and across three river crossings before you arrive to the Cave of the Stone Sepulcher, a spectacular cave held sacred to the Maya who began to use the entrance during the Early Classic period. In later years, as a devastating drought swept over the region, the Maya traveled deeper into the cave to conduct ceremonies and ritual sacrifices.

The cave consists of a series of chambers that ends in a large cathedral space where individuals were sacrificed to the gods of the underworld, and where their remains still lie. Travel into the past in this living museum, where skeletal remains and Mayan artifacts still rest as they were originally placed thousands of years ago.

    • Day 4: Cayo District to Ambergris Caye - Float down a lazy aquamarine river that winds an 11-km path underground and through lush jungle, then fly east to the cayes

Trek along subtropical trails, wade through a river and pass through two caves before you reach a stunning lagoon surrounded by steep limestone walls. Here, climb into an inner tube and let the current carry you into two large chambers – impressive sanctuaries used by the Maya for sacrificial rituals. Plunge into darkness and listen to the sounds of the cascading waterfalls and churning rapids. Once you exit the cave, continue your float along the river until you arrive back at the starting point. Then, board a puddle-jumper flight to the powdery white sand beaches of Ambergris Caye. Once you land, a driver will be waiting to take you to Matachica, a stunning beachfront resort where you'll feel your cares blow away on a gentle tropical breeze.

    • Day 5: Ambergris Caye - Discover the charm and Caribbean flair of San Pedro

Today is yours to spend as you wish - snorkel, kayak, and swim in the perfectly calm waters of the Caribbean, or head into town and get a taste of local Belizean fare. Conch fritters are a must!

    • Day 6: Ambergris Caye - Explore underwater gems on a private boat trip to Mexico Rocks

Board a private boat charter and speed up the coast of North Ambergris Caye to Mexico Rocks, one of Belize’s most famous snorkeling sites, located only 15 minutes from San Pedro. Don a snorkel and discover the undersea splendors of this unique patch reef, where a shallow cluster of corals provide refuge to a variety of marine life including scallops, anemones, shrimp, sea fans, and eels that shelter in the coral’s nooks and crannies, while abundant fish life includes grouper, snapper, grunts, butterfly fish, and many other brightly colored tropical beauties.

    • Day 7: Ambergris Caye - Relax on Ambergris' perfect sandy shores

Take one last day to settle deeply into a laid-back island vibe. Today is yours to spend how you wish - wander white sand beaches, head into town for a taste of local flavor, or take one last swim in the calm Caribbean Sea.

    • Day 8: Belize City - Departure

Bid farewell to turquoise waters and powdery sands, with a short flight to Belize City, where you will depart on your international flight home.
